Anchorage, AK--Ulu factory

Dang, put them in backwards. Blades of the Ulu, handles for them. These are pasta/salad tongs.

Sanding the bowls which are a cutting board on the other side.

Today we went to the Ulu Factory. Ulu is a rounded knife that comes with its own bowl that fits the blade. They are all made here in Alaska and are very sharp. I should be able to do some damage with this ;-) It is supposed to take the place of a food processor, be easier to use and clean up. We then went downtown to the Alaska Museum to see a gold exhibit. This was very interesting and had some wonderful artifacts. Coins that were BC age and up, masks, jewelry and gold ingots. Also had displays of gold in the rough. I'm not sure I would recognize it in its natural environment. From there we walked to 4th Avenue. We have checked out a web cam at this site for a couple of years. It was really neat to see the real thing and to find the camera. Anchorage was a bit chilly. It began a bit hazy and smokey so the breeze was welcomed to blow the smoke away. Still a beautiful day, I think Owen said the temps were the same for Portland and Anchorage.
