Drive to Anchorage

Snow poles for the snow plow drivers.

A varied drive today. Roller coaster roads, scary winding roads with no guard rails and just plain old highway. Great views of different mountains. One in particular is Gunsight Mt. Not sure if you can tell why it is called that from the pic, at the peak it actually looks like a gunsight. Some wonderful views of the Matanuska Glacier. It is 4 miles wide at the terminus and averages 2 miles along its length. It has been stable for 400 years. We traveled along the Matanuska River.
