Grosse Pointe Farms, MI

The front of the house, a peek into the back yard, and the living room.

A backyard picture, a view from the park.

We are with Sara and T as of today. An uneventful drive. The trailer is stashed at the church parking lot. It is pretty well hidden so will be safe. We went to lunch, the market and grocery store. Went to the park. Each area has it's own park and this is the one for Grosse Pointe Farms. It was a beautiful day and there were many people out and about. The park has a pool for adults and one for kids. It also has a beach area and marina. Sara cooked a wonderful meal and we had a fire in the back yard (in a fire pit of course). We will be here for a couple three days and then really head for home.

Jackson, MI

At the market today and my "baby" will never be old :0)

We took a little "hop" up the road to Jackson to spend the night. The other place was full on Friday night. We could have spent the night in the overflow parking area, without any hookups, and for the same price. We decided to move on :-) Very pretty place, it had a pond in the center and really large sites. Didn't do much else, walked around the campground and just hung out. Didn't have Internet so no blog yesterday. Also have a couple of pictures of Sara and T from today.

Albion, MI

A lazy laid back day. We were disappointed to learn that the Kellogg's tour was no longer available so we went to the Historic Adventist Village. It did have major religious overtones but was also quite informative. The Kellogg cereal company was started by one of the founders of the Adventist religion. One of the things that Adventists believe in is a healthy lifestyle that included exercise and a healthy diet. There were quite a few restored houses from the 1800's that were pretty neat including a one-room school house. From there we went to the Cornwell's Turkeyville where we had a delicious turkey dinner. We will be moving tomorrow, just a little bit closer to Sara and T. Couldn't get three nights here so will do one night in Jackson, MI. Not sure about the WiFi status, says Internet is available so if there is nothing posted know that there was no service.

Albion, MI

We are now in Michigan. Ever closer to Sara & T and eventually home. Pleasant drive along the usual fields of corn and some beans. A few more hills and trees. Did see a deer jumping along the highway. We are at Rockey's Campground. Really pretty place. Lots are grass with trees and on "five lakes". It has a nice little beach, again just looking at it and I start to itch so no swimming for me. The road to the entrance was dirt between to fields of corn. We are about 30 miles from Battlecreek and around 100 miles from Detroit. This campground only has a "hot spot", we didn't think we would connect at our site but we have zero to one bars and everything is uploading. The last place we had four bars and nothing would load--that's NOMAD for you, hope to never have to deal with them again.

More Indy

Winners of Indy always drink a bottle of milk in the winners circle. Over view of one of the rooms. The "pagoda" where the officials and media are located on race day.

Scoring pylon and more stands. Owen in an Indy car:-)

A couple of these pictures were snapped before we were told we weren't allowed to be where we were. We just kept walking until somebody told us were weren't supposed to be there, then we pleaded ignorance--after we took our pictures:-)

Indianapolis,IN

The tunnel heading into the infield where the parking lot for the museum is located. A very happy O.

Who's got a pretty truck? Can you find it with the stands in the background?

We went to the Speedway/Brickyard today. It was a bit disappointing, we couldn't tour the actual track. They had a motorcycle race over the weekend and were busy cleaning so no tours were offered until this weekend. The museum was open so it wasn't a total bust. Another beautiful day. Below average temps but perfect for us. A little breeze and highs in the 70's, not complaints from us. Might not get pictures to upload, NOMAD is acting up. Finally, the pictures uploaded! We are no longer dealing with NOMAD yippee:-)

Indianapolis, IN

Views from outside the museum. The canal runs along the museum. It had joggers and bike riders going up and down the pathway. The clock runs on steam.

On another note. We went to Camping World again today to buy a new pump for the trailer. We woke up to a puddle (lake) coming from the fresh water tank under the bed. Had to do with the water pressure at one of the campgrounds. Owen replaced it and it seems to be ok. Time to come home things are starting to break down :-) NOMAD wouldn't load this morning but seems to be ok right now. We hope it will continue until we leave.

Indianapolis, IN

Not sure if the museum was built around this school or not but this facade was inside the actual museum. Looking out the windows from the second level.

Prairie chickens, they were stuffed but still cute.
Pictures loaded backwards again, dang!

Today we went to the Indiana State Museum which is located downtown fairly close to the Capital Building. My first reaction was not another museum, but this was set up really nice and proved to be a good choice. The exhibits began with prehistoric events right up to modern day. It followed the development of Indiana and had a nice Indian display. Just a note: we saw a cop pull a car over on the highway, the cop was driving a Camaro! Pretty nice ride for the cop :-)

Indianapolis, IN

Have to love the speed limits in campgrounds. They always crack us up.

We made our way to Indianapolis today. Same old roads-corn (and more corn), cell/microwave towers and silos. We did see a few "dipping giraffes in the fields. We are staying at the Lake Haven Retreat. It's pretty nice. It has a little lake with a swimming area (lots of geese so no swimming for me), trees and grassy areas. Sort of a strange way to do business, the office hours are Mon-Fri. I called and left a message and was called back. Our site number and info was left in the mailbox and we will pay tomorrow morning. We will be here for three days. Weather started out very cloudy but cleared this evening, it is still almost ten degrees cooler than the norm. Supposed to be very chilly in the morning--50's. Oh well it's all about what you are used to. We are back dealing with our favorite WiFi provider, NOMAD so not sure if I can get pictures to load. It took the better part of an hour to get the blog to load. Oh how I hate NOMAD! Ok, I take it all back, the pics loaded on the first try :-) OMG how could I forget the most important part of the post--we are now back in the Eastern Time Zone. We lost an hour today but we are that much closer to home.
